Brecon Horseshoe

Brecon Beacons Walk

I finally got to do Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons this on Friday. This is the highest point in southern britain and have planned to do this walk 3 times before but was unsuccessful for various reasons.

This attempt was a rush decision and I left friday morning at 5 am. 5 hours later i was parked up and ready to start my walk. A 6 and a half miles circle taking in 3 peaks.

This was a great days walking and the weather was kind but i would not have been possible without the kind offer of accommadation by my great friends Andy and Vikki, who looked after me and bed and fed me for friday night.

Thanks Guys

A winter Walk

A Winter Walk

Today i did a 6.5 mile walk from Tonford to Blean. This had to be the coldest day of this winter and frost laid on the groud all day. The sun was out but had no effect on the temps. The walk was nice and easy and was chosen on the spur of the moment, so no planning just went with the flow.

New Year Walk

First walk of the 2009

Today i went for my first walk of 2009. A circular 5 mile walk around Barham, the sun was out with frost on the ground and i am wrapped up well.

It has been a while since i have been out for a walk and the lack of execise and the excesses of Christmas made this walk a struggle at times, although only 5 miles, the hills felt hard and a few aches in my legs convinced me that i should get a lot fitter this year.

These pictures were taken with my new camera (Fuji J10), which i got for christmas. I love the winter sun light, which is low most of the day and creates long shadows and wondeful colours

All in all it was great to get out on a walk again, Will have to get fitter to do some long distance walks 15 -20 miles in the summer.
